Healthy Start Program

Every parent wants the best for their baby & children and every baby & child deserves the best! Whether it is your first baby or sixth baby, Healthy Start Program is for you!

Healthy Start Program in Wakulla County provides services to all women who are pregnant and children from birth up to three years old. Our goal is for you to have the information and support you need to have the healthiest pregnancy and the best possible birth outcome because every baby deserves a healthy start. Program participation is free and voluntary; you are eligible for services no matter what your income level is, and you can stop services whenever you want.

Healthy Start offers the following services:

Pregnancy, Breastfeeding, and Parenting Education & Support* Newborn Care Education* Child Development Education & Support* Baby Safety Education such as Safe Sleep Practices & Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) Prevention, Shaken Baby Syndrome Prevention & Coping with Crying, and Car Seat Safety Education* Nutrition Education* Family Planning Education* Smoking Cessation Education* Stress Management Education* Community Resources & Referral* Care Coordination*Home Visitation

Healthy Start also have Car Seat and Crib for Kids Programs that offer car seat & pack-n-play assistance for qualified clients.

How to participate?

Just say “yes” and fill out the Healthy Start Prenatal Risk Screen with your provider at your initial doctor visit or the Infant Risk Screen before you leave the hospital.
