All coastal bathing areas are open to the public and are subject to water quality standards. The Department of Health has identified specific sampling areas for each county. The two areas within Wakulla County are Shell Point Beach and Mash Island. Our samples are currently being conducted by Franklin County Environmental Health through an inter-county agreement.  If these samples are returned with high bacterial counts at any time, the beach will be posted with standard warning signs.
