What is WIC?
WIC is a federally funded supplemental nutrition program for Women, Infants and Children.
WIC provides the following at no cost:
- Healthy foods
- Nutrition Education and Counseling
- Breastfeeding Support
- Referrals for Health Care, Social Services, Healthy Start and Immunization

Eligibility Determination
WIC serves infants, children up to 5 years of age, pregnant and breastfeeding women, and women in the first 6 months after giving birth. Participants must have a total household income equal to or less than the amounts shown in the WIC Income Guidelines or will be income-eligible if they receive Medicaid, Food Assistance (SNAP) or Temporary Cash Assistance (TCA). Applicants are required to show proof of income, identity and address.
- Participants must be currently living in the State of Florida
- Participant must have a nutrition risk, determined by the nutrition staff
Food Assistance
WIC provides eligible participants with a WIC EBT (Electronic Benefits Transfer) card for supplemental nutritious foods. Women and children receive milk, cheese, eggs, fresh fruits and vegetables, iron-fortified cereal , fruit or vegetable juice and beans or peanut butter. Women who exclusively breastfeed also receive tuna or salmon. Non-breastfeeding infants receive iron-fortified formula. All babies receive baby food and iron-fortified infant cereal at 6 months of age.
Nutrition Assessment and Counseling
WIC provides individual dietary assessment and nutrition counseling to all participants. Participants and caretakers are counseled on health risks related to nutrition, either preventive or therapeutic. Infants and children are also screened and referred for immunization services.

Call the local WIC office, in Wakulla County at 850-926-0400 option 5 to determine if you are eligible or to schedule an appointment.
WIC clinic is operational in Wakulla County on Wednesday from 8:30 am - 4:30 pm.
