Florida Department of Health in Taylor and Wakulla Counties
Mr. Padraic Juarez was appointed the administrator for the Florida Department of Health in Wakulla County in 2012. In 2013, he was given additional appointment as administrator to the Florida Department of Health in Taylor County.
Mr. Juarez began his career in public health at the Stanislaus County Health Department in California in 1986 as an Environmental Health Inspector. In 1991, he came to Florida to work for the Jefferson County Health Department. Later that year, he was promoted to work at the State Health Office administering several Environmental Health Programs. In 2007, he returned to the County Health Departments to fulfill his desire to provide direct support to the residents. His vision for the health department includes community engagement and strong partnership building to improve overall health for all residents.
During his years of service in public health, Mr. Juarez has worked at the local level, administered Environmental Health programs at the state level and been the liaison between our state government and the Federal government. These policies and procedures are still in effect today. These policies were developed using the lessons he learned while working at the local level. He attributes his success at the local level to his staff and their strong commitment to the vision of the Department.
Mr. Juarez holds a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Colorado State University and a Master of Science in Executive Management from Florida State University. Mr. Juarez is a registered sanitarian in the State of Florida. Additionally, he serves on several executive boards for surrounding colleges to help prepare the next wave of Public Health professionals.
Mr. Juarez is proud to serve alongside other public health professionals in the mission to protect, promote & improve the health of all people in Florida through integrated state, county, and community efforts working towards the vision to be the Healthiest State in the nation. He remains diligent and committed to working with community partners to strengthen the local public health systems to assure a healthy community.
